7 June 2025, Kuala Lumpur

An eleven race program took place on Saturday the 7th of June with the majority of ‘big guns’ being kept away for the feature racedays in the next few months, including next weekend, but it never took the attention away from an eye-catching win from Kim Emperor on his local debut as he trotted up to win by just under 4 lengths in the seventh race.

Trained by Richard Lines and ridden to victory by W Cheah, there was certainly a lot of confidence about him as he was well supported and went off at RM6 a win and RM5 a place and never had to come out of first gear. He peeled off the heels of the leading pair turning for home with the majority of the field off the bridle as he cruised up with Cheah motionless on the four year old son of Highland Reel, and only needed two small cracks of the whip down the side to keep him honest as there wasn’t any sort of opposition for the entirety of the home straight.

Kim Emperor and The Winning Connections

The winning margin was 3 3/4 lengths in a winning time of 1:16.95 over 1300m and is certainly an exciting horse to follow. Feature racing returns to the Selangor Turf Club next week Sunday on the 15th of June with 3 special races including the 4YO Sprint Championship; TNI Charity Cup and the Korea Racing Authority Trophy and is a day you definitely do not want to miss.
