RACE 8 (R018)   CLASS 4(B) – 1000m (sc) – MORE TO FOLLOW HANDICAP

SATELLITE MASTER which was down 27kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SONNY BILL (M Yusri) which stood when the gates were released and lost considerable ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

BELT AND ROAD (CK Tan) had to be steadied racing to the 900M when SUPER DRAGON (AM Aizat) rolled in.

A post-race veterinary examination of BELT AND ROAD (CK Tan) revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, App CK Khaw, the rider of RAINBOW NATION in the presence of his acting master, Trainer S Cook pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding RAINBOW NATION, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BELT AND ROAD passing the 800M, resulting in that gelding being tightened for galloping room and brushing the running rails for some distance.

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration App CK Khaw’s guilty plea and mitigating factors.  App CK Khaw was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days, effective from Monday, 7th January 2019 and to expire on Sunday, 13th January 2019, both dates inclusive.  He was advised of his right of appeal (6.05pm).
