At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey WW Cheah, the rider of INFINITE WISDOM, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding INFINITE WISDOM, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BANKER’S EIGHTY ONE at the 800M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey WW Cheah’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four (4) Malaysian race days with effect from 9 June 2025 and to expire on 28 June 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 2 (R0388) CLASS 5A – 1150M (Track II +4)

9	VITTORIA PERFETTA (App PH Seow)	Apprentice was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for dropping her whip at the 200M.

Trainer BT Lim was questioned regarding the improved performance of BIG SAGA. In this regard, he explained that this filly has soundness issues which impacts the consistency of its performances. He explained that today, with the claiming apprentice, drop in distance from its last start and drop in class from its previous start, this filly was able to display an improved performance today.

Jockey R Shafiq (FLAMING PHOENIX) was questioned regarding his tactics for this race. In this regard, he explained that it was not his intent to lead, however, upon jumping, he determined that there was no speed on his inside in the early stages and took the opportunity to allow his mount to settle into a forward position and eventually acquire the lead. The Panel of Stewards noted his explanation.

10	PACIFIC SONIC (L De Souza)	Raced wide in the early stages. Hung in in the straight. Switched out to continue its run at the 300M, thereafter hung in in the concluding stages.
13	PACIFIC EMPIRE (App S Bahauddin)	Saddle slipped after the jump. Jumped in and continue with the inward movement in the early part of the race.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App Z Faizol, the rider of IRON SAMURAI, in the presence of his Employing Trainer, SY Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding IRON SAMURAI, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to DEFOE at the 250M.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App Z Faizol’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Selangor Turf Club race days with effect from 9 June 2025 and to expire on 22 June 2025, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Jockey AL Da Silva was questioned regarding his ride on CHEVAL ARTIST in the straight. In this regard, he explained that leaving the 300M, as he attempted to switch his whip from the backhand to the forehand position, he briefly dropped his whip. He further explained that this caused a pause in his riding for a short period whilst he was regaining control of his whip. He also stated that the gelding was hanging in in the straight which further restricted him from fully assisting his mount until the end of the race. The Panel of Stewards noted his explanation, however, he was advised to ride all his mounts out to the end of the race so as to leave no room for query.

Jockey WW Cheah (CLOUT) subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was granted. The appeal hearing will be held at date to be fixed.
