RACE 7 (R0404)        CLASS 5(B) – 1200m (sc)  CANOWINDRA PRODUCE STAKE

BAGHDAD, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised near fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination after two (2) weeks embargo before being declared to race again.

As there were no rider available to the connections of HORSE KING and LET’S COME ON BABY, the Panel of Stewards ordered the withdrawals at 4.29pm.

As there was no suitable rider available to the connections of MAGNITUDE, the Panel of Stewards permitted App P Haris to replace Jockey R Shafiq as the rider of MAGNITUDE.

As there was no suitable rider available to the connections of MAGIC PLAYER, the Panel of Stewards permitted Jockey KC Wong to replace App SN Shiva as the rider of MAGIC PLAYER.

MAGIC PLAYER (KC Wong) jumped awkwardly outwards.

The Panel of Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of MAGNITUDE today.  Evidence were taken from App P Haris, the rider of MAGNITUDE in the presence of his master Trainer K Coetzee and Trainer SY Lim, the trainer of MAGNITUDE.

After considering all the evidence and reviewing all angles of the video, App P Haris pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge are that:

  • Shortly after the start, he restrained his mount, resulting in his mount throwing its head up badly, thereby losing considerable ground;

  • From the 300M to the 100M, he had a tight hold of his mount with his right hand when his mount was running on strongly;

  • At about the 50M, he unnecessarily checked his mount for no apparent reason(s).

In assessing the penalty, the Panel of Stewards took into consideration App P Haris’s disciplinary record, guilty plea and mitigating factors.  App P Haris was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) months with effect from 9th June 2025 and to expire on 8th December 2025, both dates inclusive.   In addition, he was fined the sum of RM40,000/- (Malaysian Ringgit: Forty Thousand Only) and was advised of his right of appeal (6.15pm).

A post-race veterinary examination of MAGNITUDE (App P Haris) revealed no obvious abnormality.
